Ride The Classic Sportif 2023
April 16
€55 – €60
Ride The Classic is a unique leisure cycling sportive, taking you through the beautiful country lanes and bogs of East Galway. A combination of off-road sectors on bog roads, farm tracks, boreens, and manor estates, make up about 25% of the route.
Ride The Classic is the sister event to the Galway Classic, Ireland’s only Classics road race, held on the same course but on a different day.
Ride The Classic gives leisure riders a true taste of the traditional gritty northern European professional road races, an experience and memorable challenge like none other.
Both events, the sportive and the race, are organised on a voluntary basis by Galway Bay Cycling Club, just because we love biking!
Distances: 85km or 120km
Surfaces: Normal Tarred Roads 75% / Bog Roads 15% / Farm Tracks 5% / Gravel Roads 5%
Directional Signage
The routes will be marshaled at all main junctions. Every turn is signposted with a RED directional arrow. As you leave Ryehill Demense the two routes go in separate directions: those doing the Rouleur (120km) route turn left, whilst those doing the Puncheur (80km) route turn right. At this points participants should follow the correct direction for their chosen route.
Safety
This event is being held on open roads. Please obey the rules of the road and follow marshals instructions at all times.
