The Great Escape is a charity cycle set up in 2010 to raise funds for The Capuchin Day Centre for Homeless in Dublin City Centre. Participants leave Dublin on friday morning, overnight in Carrick on Shannon, and arrive in Belmullet, Co. Mayo at 6pm Saturday. 300 Kilometres, 2 days and alot of craic along the way.

The Great Escape Charity Cycle was first established in 2010 by friends Fergal Flynn and Paul Kelly. Both had a keen interest in cycling, an awareness of the good work of The Capuchin Day Centre, and in the town of Belmullet, Co. Mayo! What started as an informal group of 6 cyclists in 2010 has now grown into a more organised event hoping to attract 100 cyclists in 2014 with the ultimate aim of raising more funds for this worthy cause.

The cycle leaves from Bow Street, Dublin 7 on the morning of Friday 20th June, overnights in Carrick on Shannon, Co. Leitrim and arrives in Belmullet, Co.Mayo at approximately 18:00 hrs on Saturday 21st June. A function for the participants will be held on the night at The Broadhaven Bay Hotel in Belmullet.
