Wild Myeloma Way Cycle

September 6 & September 7

| €100 (500 min fundraising)

The Multiple Myeloma Ireland ‘Wild Myeloma Way Cycle‘ is a two-day cycling event taking riders across the stunning landscape of the Wild Atlantic Way, across Galway and Mayo in our inaugural year. Participants will be a coming together of Health Care Professionals, Multiple Myeloma Patients and families, Pharmaceutical industry members, and the general public. It promises to be an exhilarating, but challenging event, dedicated to raising awareness about Multiple Myeloma.

Stage 1: Departing from Galway University Hospital the 100 km route will take in the beautiful Wild Atlantic Way passing areas of the “An Gealtacht” including Barna, An Spiddal and Carraroe . The challenge of Carraroe to Roundstone will pale into significance with the breathtaking coastal scenery as the idyllic village of Ballconnelly leads to Clifden and end of Day 1

Stage 2: 95 km Departing Clifden the undulating route of greenery and scenery will take in the stunning fjorded peninsula of Killary harbour and through the village of Leenaun. Beauty on both sides as crossing borders just means more beauty as we enter Mayo and the Delphi surroundings. On towards Louisburgh ,with the final leg of the journey taking us under the shadow of Croagh Patrick and finally winding through the streets of Westport.

Myeloma, also known as multiple myeloma, is a cancer arising from plasma cells, a type of white blood cell which is made in the bone marrow.  Bone marrow is the ‘spongy’ material found in the centre of the larger bones in the body. The bone marrow is where all blood cells are made.
